Nebraska Safe Haven Law Needs Revision

I wrote a post a while back about the Safe Haven law in Nebraska (see here ) and how I felt that dropping off your teenagers was not part of the original intent of the law.

Well, today an article came out about a man who dropped off his 9 children because he felt he could not take care of them anymore. Click here to read.

That's a really sad situation and I wish the father had turned to family members (evidently some have offered to take the children) before making his decision.

Those children first lost their mother and now their father. My heart breaks for that devastated family. I hope the family members that have come forward can accomadate all nine.

I totally agree, Nancy. It appears several family members have volunteered to care for them.

It is sad though, Emerald, because it is unlikely that all 9 will be kept together.

Very sad situation. But I do agree that dropping off teenagers was not what the law was addressing. It will be interesting to see how this will be handled. My heart goes out to that family.
