Jeans

What is the deal with pants being made with the "stretch" material? I hate that. Especially with jeans. I don't want my jeans to stretch. I'm very particular about textures with clothing and nothing annoys me more than pants advertised as "stretch."

Seriously, who wants their jeans to stretch? I spent five hours at the mall today trying on every possible jean in every possible store. Almost every single pair was stretch material. When did this become the cats meow?

I finally settled for a pair that I really don't even like, but at least they fit like they are supposed to. My two favorite pairs of jeans that I have had for years are now three sizes to big, but I've still been wearing them with a belt. They are to the point that they look ridiculous, which prompted the five hour journey today.

So, what are your thoughts? Are you a fan of this stretch material?

I'd have to say YES and NO to the stretch material in jeans these days.
YES because I'm pear shaped and very short. I wear Levi bootcut low rise and relaxed fit bootcut. The stretch let's me wear a size that the length is appropriate for me. You'd be surprised (or maybe not!) at the increase in length per size - or washes for that matter!
NO because the relaxed fit levis that I buy stretch out quickly and sometimes by the end of the day the crotch is 3 inches lower than it started out!!

I'll be honest with you. I wish the jeans I was wearing right now had a tad of stretch in the waist.

I think I ate too much at dinner.

In other news... try The Gap. I think this is where I bought these. They carry a specific kind (I can't remember what they call them) that never stretch.

Nancy, one of the main reasons I hate the stretch is because it does stretch out so much. YOu are absolutely right.

Sarah, I'd be down with a stretch band waste. :) I should have gone into Gap today. It was so crowded I bypassed it, but I love their clothes. Thanks for the suggestion.

I'm completely with you on the stretch. Cannot stand it, and find that even if the jeans fit when I buy them, after one or two hours of wear, the waist is so stretched, the pants are bagged out and cry for a belt just to keep them in place. I don't know why they're the cat's meow, but I wish we had options, with or without.

I hate the stretch too. If you buy a size that "fits" they stretch to look droopy. I just can't win. I want my old Guess jeans from high school to fit again....no stretch...although they were acid wash which isn't exactly "in" right now.
